13. MISCELLAENOUS INFORMATION
13.1 World Gymnaestrada 2011 in Lausanne (SUI)
André Gueisbuhler gave the floor to Mr. Golay, President of the Organizing Committee of the 2011
World Gymnaestrada.
Mr. Golay presented a video on the screen. Magic will be the main theme of the event. Two
mascots were distributed to everyone on the occasion of the official launch of the event. The entire
city will wear the colors of the World Gymnaestrada. He invited everyone to view the video game
available on the official website. Federations unable to send a full delegation may take advantage
of the "Ambassador" program precisely created to allow them to send one or two representatives.
Everything will be done to deserve the confidence of the FIG. He is looking forward to welcoming
the FIG family in Lausanne (SUI) on July 10, 2011.
CHN thanked Mr. Golay for this wonderful presentation. The sport of gymnastics should attract
more attention to all its activities. He hoped that CHN will be able to organize such an event.
13.2 Olympic Games 2012 in London (GBR)
LOCOG was not represented at this meeting. André Gueisbuhler announced that due to television
requirements, there would be no Gala at the next Olympic Games. Competition III in ART will take
place over 3 days and TRA competitions will be held over 2 days, separately from ART.
13.3 Gym for Life Challenge 2013, Cape Town (RSA)
The RSA President RSA, Jerry Masia, informed that his Federation and country were ready to
welcome the FIG and to earn the trust placed in them.
Elisabeth Cameron Smith, RSA Secretary General, remarked that time had come for Africa to host
a major gymnastic event. She showed a video on the screen and provided additional information
on lodging and the means of transportation available in Cape Town. Security for major events is
provided by the government. She invited everyone to come to Cape Town in 2013 and participate
in this beautiful event.
André Gueisbuhler displayed on the screen the list of FIG events still in need of organizers -- in
particular the AER and ACRO 2012 World Championships. He asked interested Federations to
contact the FIG office.
Michel Léglise announced that the ACRO DVD was available to anyone interested. He was told
that we had omitted a salute to the memory of Mr. Makki (LIB) who died two years ago. He
apologized to LIB and paid tribute to the deceased.
GBR informed that Glasgow was submitting a bid for the 2015 ART World Championships.
On behalf of the FIG, Michel Léglise congratulated Ron Froehlich for being awarded the Olympic
Order of Merit last June and for being reelected President of the World Games. The FIG was
delighted with these achievements.
Michel Léglise officially thanked the representatives of the SVK Federation and in particular the
SVK President for the perfect organization of the Congress. A medal of recognition was awarded to
Judge Josef Mikula. Michel Léglise wished all delegates a good trip back home and thanked the
interpreters and the FIG personnel for work well done. He officially adjourned the congressional
meeting at 2 p.m.
