notice for the future.
We have lost the value of apparatus. Gymnasts use low level apparatus handling so as not to risk
losing the apparatus.
Virtuosity is exceptional apparatus handling. We reviewed old gymnasts and how they used
apparatus and dance steps.
In January 2011 the TC had a one-day meeting with the FIG Academy and an additional meeting
in February for 2 days, which Prof. Grandi joined on the final day.
The organization of World Champions is a subject of discussion during FIG meetings for Comp I as
Team is doing 12 exercises. We suggested 10 exercises. Also, Continental qualifications for World
Championships is a good suggestion.
Previously in Osaka and Budapest, the competition ran in 2 halls. It is a big stress /tragedy for the
gymnasts to prepare 1 exercise each day. Unfortunately, it's a big expense for the FIG to prepare
the IRCOS system in 2 halls.
Presentation of President FIG RG TC Mme. Maria Szyszkowska for COP:
ˇ Judging: 4 difficulty judges sitting separately + 6 Execution judges + 2 reference judges (in
normal competitions only 4 execution).
ˇ Min. 1 dance steps in order to force coaches, choreographers to choose music and dance
steps.
ˇ Unclear scientific basis for "flexibility" body group: some elements of flexibility have been
re-distributed into balances and rotations.
ˇ Repetition is not possible: Either isolated or mixed or multiple difficulties will reduce
repetition and open up creativity
ˇ Score form: performance sequence of execution, body difficulty, sequence of dance steps,
DER.
ˇ Calculation of each separate difficulty in mixed difficulties
Remarks of President Grandi:
ˇ Collaboration between UEG and TC is excellent.
ˇ Virtuosity must be given by a majority of judges not only 1 judge but 3 judges. It either
exists or does not, without any complications of 10 criteria etc. Virtuosity is with execution
not with difficulty.
ˇ The judgment for group is a problem because judgment is very complicated for calculating
individual faults, group faults, collaboration of gymnasts etc.
ˇ Dance steps: is it going to be really a dance or only steps?
ˇ Only 6 gymnasts had harmony with music during 30

World Championships in Moscow.
Daniela Delle Chiaie (FIG RG TC Member) prepared a presentation with ideas for groups.
Natalyia Gorbulina (FIG Academy) gave examples of DER, mixed, multiple difficulties with
good and bad performance. Virtuosity examples and music accompaniment.
Discussion of Virtuosity:
ˇ Maria Szyszkowska (FIG RG TC President): it takes many years to achieve perfect
apparatus handling/virtuosity. There is no guarantee that a gymnast with excellent work of
body can get excellent work of apparatus.
ˇ Heidi Bruneder (UEG TC President): to add in the form V1, V2, V3 due to the long time of
competitions (the judge won't be able to identify it immediately).
