FÉDÉRATION INTERNATIONALE DE GYMNASTIQUE
Decision: Suggestion was approved.
ˇ Hardy Fink (Director FIG Academy): Virtuosity means exceeds perfection, with limit not to
go to 2.00 points otherwise its not virtuosity. Its either a part of routine, all routine or not
(0.3, 0.5, 0.7)
ˇ Luchia Egermann (AUT): 0.3 points isn't fair, as it takes years to work for virtuosity of
apparatus but with a dance step gymnast can get the same 0.3 pts.
ˇ Prof. Bruno Grandi: we can't mix between creativity and performance.
ˇ Maria Petrova (BUL): Virtuosity should be moved to Artistry since its work of apparatus and
how it is executed.
ˇ Natalyia Kouzmina (FIG RG TC Member): Virtuosity can be evaluated as an overall bonus
but also for a specific handling of apparatus like Cantaluppi from ITA. She performs difficult
apparatus handling during DER. We must appreciate such creativity and support coaches
and gymnasts to create differently.
ˇ Tamara Bompa (CAN): to eliminate 0.1 column as it is very simple and can't be rewarded
for virtuosity. Instead combine both actions (throw and catch). Virtuosity should be viewed
as an overall aspect.
ˇ Nadya Alexandrova (FIG Academy): extraordinary performance should be rewarded, but
it's difficult to calculate. Pay equal attention for body 50% and apparatus 50%. Let's
combine the work of Neshka Robeva for apparatus work and Irina Viner for body difficulties.
Virtuosity should be moved to artistry as only top gymnasts in the world will receive this
bonus.
Decision:
o
Virtuosity to be aan overall bonus in Execution with a fixed criteria.
o
Mastery of apparatus handling in difficulty.
Open Discussion:
ˇ Connection of body groups
ˇ Demands of dance steps and expressivity
ˇ Different apparatus handling
ˇ Artistry
ˇ Natalia Asmolov (ISR): On behalf of coaches, she would like to have a small, clear COP
with clear criteria. It will be easier for judges to be objective.
ˇ Raisa Terekhina (RUS): she can see a clear objective path presented with the COP, and
she confirms the idea of a sequence of dance steps, and Mastery of apparatus handling.
It's important to judge artistry accompanied with music, image, body and apparatus
handling.
ˇ Jolanda Sap (NED): Execution deductions shouldn't be reduced because the balance
between difficulty and execution isn't correct.
ˇ Evangelia Trikomiti (CYP): Confirms new penalty for execution proposed and the decision
of mastery of apparatus handling, since medium level gymnasts will be separated from the
higher level.
ˇ Isabell Sawade (GER): confirms improved understanding of the COP. Mastery should be
marked on the form; confirms judges' distribution.
ˇ Blanka Mlejnkova (CZE): COP presented is done to suit all countries.
ˇ Tamara Bompa (CAN): Mastery of apparatus handling should be a criteria "Value" not
bonus. Also, she proposes to keep the penalty for loss of apparatus 0.7 pts.
