MINUTES (Summary)
1. OFFICIAL OPENING OF CONGRESS
Bruno Grandi greeted the assembly and welcomed all participants to Vysoke Tatry. He thanked the
SVK President, Jan Novak, and his team for organizing this event. He then saluted Yuri Titov, FIG
Honorary President.
Jaroslav Ivanco, Member of the SVK Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, welcomed
everyone. He was delighted to host such a major event in Slovakia and wished the participants
great success in this Congress.
Jan Mokos, Mayor of Vysoke Tatry, warmly welcomed everyone to the High Tatras, a region
famous for wellness spas and winter sports.
Jan Novak, SVK President, was pleased and proud to receive the FIG delegates, who represented
76 countries and all continents. He thanked President Grandi for his trust and assured him that he
and his colleagues had spared no effort to provide the best conditions for the Congress. The
President of Slovakia, Ivan Gasparovic, expressed his best wishes for a successful Congress. Jan
Novak thanked everyone who supported him, especially the representatives from Spieth and
Janssen & Fritsen.
Bruno Grandi officially opened the meeting, He thanked the organizers of the recent World
Championships, in particular the organizers of the ART WC in Rotterdam (NED). Before giving the
floor to the Secretary General, he wished Norbert Bueche a happy birthday.
The Secretary General greeted the attendees and informed them of the program of the next two
days and the electronic voting system. Members planning to speak were asked to name the
Federation represented and to indicate the language they would speak.
TRIBUTE TO THE DEPARTED
Bruno Grandi paid tribute to the deceased, who were devoted to the promotion of our sport
throughout the world. He included in this tribute any person who might have been involuntarily left
out. He invited the audience to stand up and observe a minute of silence in memory of the
departed.
