FIG Executive Committee - Official News
Lausanne (SUI), February 23 25, 2011
· An extraordinary Executive Committee meeting targeting FIG and Marketing strategies will
be held at the FIG Head Office in Lausanne (SUI), March 23 24, 2011.
· Three Symposiums dealing with the Codes of Points will be held this year in Zurich. They
are slated for April 29 30 for Rhythmic Gymnastics, June 17 19 for Artistic and
Trampoline, and early September for Aerobic and Acrobatic.
· The FIG will celebrate the 130
th
anniversary of its founding (July 23, 1881 in Liège BEL)
parallel to the World Gymnaestrada in Lausanne (SUI) in July 2011.
· Madeleine Bayon, Acrobatic gymnast and former Portuguese citizen, will compete
henceforth for France, while Coral Kremer, Rhythmic gymnast of Israeli origin, will take up
the flag of the federation of Poland.
· Also a change in nationality for judges Anthony Burton (AUS, formerly GBR), Konstantin
Gulisashvili (USA, formerly GEO) and Vladimir Vladev (USA, formerly BUL).
· In May, the Executive Committee will propose that the Council approve Bahrain (BRN) for
affiliation on a provisional basis.
· The Executive Committee would like to remind IRCOS users that consulting IRCOS images
was originally intended as an exception and not the rule. Systematic visualisation such as
occurred at the recent World Championships runs contrary to the philosophy of the system
and incurs a substantial loss of time. For the 2012 World Championships, the Executive
Committee is preparing IRCOS directives along with a list of obligations and responsibilities
for supervisors and members of the Superior Jury.
· The Executive Committee approved the 2010 accounts and the budgets for the 2011 and
2012 fiscal years.
· A rose bush has been planted in the FIG gardens by Technical Committee members in
memory of Patricia Wade (GBR), the charismatic and beloved President of Acrobatic
Gymnastics who passed away in November of 2010.
· Upon recommendation by the Media Commission, the Executive Committee has approved
the new media category EE, designating journalists working for a website as both editor
and photographer. At the same time, the EC approved changes to the Media Rules.
· The Executive Committee welcomes the introduction of Aerobic Step and Aerobic Dance
to the programme for the 2011 University Games and the 2013 World Games. The
Committee will propose that the Council maintain an equally open mind for the 2012 World
Championships.
· USA Gymnastics has presented a bid for the 2012 Acrobatic Gymnastics World
Championships. The event will be assigned once the date and bidding city are known.
· The French Gymnastics Federation was handed organisation of the 2014 Acrobatic
Gymnastics World Championships in the City of Publier, on Lake Léman.
· The 2015 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be attributed by the Council in
May 2011. For the time being, candidates include France with Paris / Bercy, Great Britain
with Glasgow and the USA with the cities of Orlando, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Jose and
Indianapolis.
