Welcome
MG welcome all the TC members, Maria Cristina Casentini, UEG AER TC President and
André Gueisbuhler (AG), FIG Secretary General to this first meeting of the year.
She thanked Maria Cristina Casentini, for joining them in order to work on a common set of
Aerobic STEP rules that will have to be used this year for two big events: Universiade in
Shenzhen (CHN) and UEG Step Contest 2011 in Bucarest (ROU).
After welcoming all members, AG thanked the TC for the work done in order to promote, to
develop and to improve the Aerobic Gymnastics all around the world.
AG informed the TC that the FIG President Bruno Grandi has decided to organize a
Symposium in all disciplines where the TC will present the main orientations of the COP.
A discussion will be opened with all Members Federations to know their opinion.
This Symposium will be organised in September 2011.
All TC expenses concerning this symposium will be paid by FIG.
MG concluded that the main directions of next COP will be discussed during this meeting.
On the other hand, AG asked the TC to think about the future of AEROBIC GYMNASTICS,
how, outside of the world of Gymnastics, it is consider by the non aerobic population.
He asked the TC to continue to work on the development of the discipline as was done by
creating the two new activities, "Aerobic Dance" and "Aerobic Step" for Universiade.
AG insisted on the fact that Aerobic Gymnastics is mainly a SYNCHRONIZED sport and not
an INDIVIDUAL discipline.
AG informed the TC that during the last IWGA EC, INDIVIDUALS have been deleted for the
next World Games and will be replaced by 6 teams of "Aerobic Dance" and "Aerobic Step":
to make this decision possible, IWGA increased the quotas in AEROBIC GYMNASTICS
from 104 to 140:
- Instead of 8 IM, IW, MP, TR, GR in qualifications and 6 of each category in Finals,
- it will be 6 MP, TR, GR, AD, AS qualifications and 4 of each category in Finals.
MG thanked AG for this information but did not hide her surprise that this decision has been
taken without any consultation with the Aerobics Gymnastics TC and the FIG EC and no
respect had been paid to the FIG TR.
AG asked TC to discuss this new situation during the meeting in order to take the final
decision, considering that it is still possible to go back and keep the INDIVIDUAL.
