The Judges were very consistent and they correctly applied the same criteria to evaluate
the performances of all gymnasts.
Shortly after the competition, the WTC carried-out an evaluation of the selected exercises
(in C-I, according to the criteria created by the WTC) performed on each apparatus in
different competition's phases.
This evaluation led to the following outcome:
- Only a very few judges showed bias for a gymnast from their own country and/or against
a gymnast in contention for a similar placement.
The judges in general are to be commended for an overall good to very good job. Special
recognitions will be announced after the next WTC meeting and then conveyed to the
respective federations
ˇ Ircos Video System
During the competitions, the video of certain gymnasts were not recorded and therefore,
there was no way those exercises could be analyzed. There was one moment when for
some reasons no video was available on four apparatus at the same time. In order to avoid
this type of situation in the future, it would be necessary to find out why it happened.
After each competition's phase the video recordings were promptly delivered to the WTC
for the exercise analysis.
Recommendation: it would be very helpful to place one camera above the VT and FX carpet
(with the same angle as that of the TV cameras) to allow for a correct evaluation (in particular of
the Line deductions).
The WTC members are very thankful to the "IRCOS" team for their help and support.
The "Spider camera" was very useful to show the best view of the gymnasts for the public. It is
however necessary to continue to experiment more with the use of this camera as it should not
disturb the gymnasts' performance
ˇ Longines Program
During competitions, more problems with computers could be noticed than usually. For the
first time, the R judges were included into the E-panels, which led to the reduction of the E
judges from 6 to 5 in each E panel. Probably the modification brought into the program was
one of the reasons that the computers did not work properly. Or may be it is time to renew
Longines' computers.
While the computer problems were resolved very quickly, they nevertheless slowed - down
the competitions
.
Situations that prevent the WTC from running competitions properly due
to the technical reasons must be avoided.
The WTC appreciate Longines' team efforts to help the TCs run the competitions the best
way possible.
8. COMPETITION NOTES
Pre competition problems:
ˇ The high level of participants' cancelations led to very last minute training schedule's
modifications, which were very stressful.
ˇ The apparatus were installed during the night, right before the first training day.
Congratulations to the OC for having amazingly succeeded in installing 6 training halls
and Podium in one night.
Unfortunately, it was only possible for the WTC to check the apparatus installation and
the
length of the Vault Podium early in the morning, during the training time of the first
subdivision. The problems were addressed later in the evening to the OC during the
Orientation meeting (in particular regarding the spring boards on Vault).
