World Championships Metz 2010
Trampoline Technical Committee "Report"
By Mr. Horst KUNZE, President TRA Technical Committee
Venue /Equipment
The "Les Arènes" Sport Complex in Metz was an excellent venue for these World Championships.
With a training hall, a warm up area hall and the Field of Play it fulfilled all needs and more for
these prestigious competition. No wonder that the training and warm-up schedules covered all
needs of athletes and coaches. The competition hall was wonderful decorated and more important
the audience stands were full, even during qualifications.
Apparatus brands: Trampoline and Tumbling, Gymnova / DMT, Eurotramp
At the first inspection the TC ordered that the angle of the mounting area of the DMTs in training
and competition hall, which differed from each other, were leveled to the same height. No
complaints heard afterwards.
After many complaints from athletes and coaches (some athletes touched the floor and the webs
were curvy and threw to the side) the TC ordered that the men`s trampolines were replaced in the
competition hall and also the whole set of springs and bed changed. Springs had to be changed
permanently during the training and competition days. (TC is waiting on the report of the testing
institute.)
The tumbling track fulfilled all needs.
Transport
Busses between the main Hotels and the venue ran on 30 minutes schedules. No complaints
heard!
Meals
Breakfast and Dinner with good variety were provided at the Hotels, Lunch was arranged in the
Sport Hall. Judges on duty during competition could take their lunch in the VIP section. It couldn´t
have been better. French cuisine at its best!
Competition and Training Schedules
As said above, training schedules covered all needs of coaches and athletes. Excellent!
The competition itself ran smoothly on schedule.
Display of Scores
The big screen in the hall was a great step forward for the information of coaches, athletes, public
and media. Also the slow motions on the second screen were excellent and fulfilled the needs for
the public in the hall, especially during TV coverage where the scores were held back to show after
slow motions.
Inquiries
During the whole event only two inquiries had to be dealt with. These and the decisions were
reported to the Jury of appeal of FIG Vice President Koji Takizawa and EC Member Brain Stocks.
In DMT, an inquiry filed by ESP was rejected concerning a skill that was intended to be straight
and was called pike by the difficulty judges.
TUM: 2 skills used at the end of the final passes by a female athlete had to be called a repetition
on intervention of the superior jury. This also affected the ranking for third place. The inquiry filed
by GBR was rejected.
