4. Joint Session Preparation Discussion
The FIG Presidential Commission has requested that the MTC and WTC harmonize the general
rules within men's and women's Code of Points and Technical Regulations for the 2013-2016
cycle. Some of the items to be discussed with the WTC:
Line deductions, time deductions, gymnasts leaving the competition area, declaration of injury,
uniform violations, national emblem, bandages, coaches' behavior, athletes' rights, incorrect start
order, red & green light for competition start, wrong vault, extension of run, landing area, size of
groups for competition, time for warm-up, and Judges' Rules.
5. Joint Session MTC and WTC
The WTC and MTC worked together in 3 sessions.
The WTC President explained the requests received from Mrs. Slava Corn to discuss specific
issues.
A difference of opinion was expressed on the number of languages which may be included in the
Code of Points (COP). Adrian Stoica explained that by using multiple languages in the same page,
it has been easier to track all changes. The WTC prefers to have the each COP just in one
language multiple editions, but if necessary would agree to have a similar format as the COP of
MAG. English would always be the primary language in the case of any differences in the versions
The WTC suggested that the FIG should update the Code of Points once per year after the World
Championships. The concerns addressed were that these changes/updates may be overlooked.
The proposal was to ask the FIG to insert a "note" on the FIG webpage emphasizing the availability
of new documents or information.
At the end of the session, a working group was formed to review the structure of the WAG and
MAG Codes and work on a proposal for a general format. The group met and created a working
document. The group was composed of:
WTC- Donatella SACCHI, Kym DOWDELL, Naomi VALENZO
MTC- Liping HUANG, Steve BUTCHER, Julio MARCOS
A revision of the General Judges' Rules was discussed. The MTC President said that the intention
of the rules was to be valid starting from 2013, and not 2012.
The WTC President went through the General Rules and the following comments were made:
ˇ Both TC's agreed (unanimously) that all judges must take the examination at each course to
maintain their brevet. Both Committees did not wish to continue with the possibility of just
attending the course and maintaining the category.
ˇ Both TC's agreed that the minimum points established in order to obtain Cat. III (for a new
judge) should also be established for Cat. II (as is the case now). In addition, the
requirement to receive Cat. III, is to judge a minimum of two competitions (even after the
examination)
ˇ Both TC's agreed to allow Cat. IV to directly obtain Cat. II as proposed, and to request at
least 2 competitions from Groups 1-4
ˇ The requirement to obtain Cat. I is to possess Cat. II in the previous cycle and have judged
competitions from group 1-3
ˇ To include the "Test Event" in Group 2.
The Common decisions were taken on following:
ˇ Line deductions
ˇ Time deductions
ˇ Jewelry
ˇ Excessive use of magnesia
