The level of the competition was very high at the top, quality guaranteed by CHN, JPN, KOR, KAZ,
UZB, TPE, but it was also very tonic to remark good gymnasts from other countries as IND, QAT,
VIE, IRI, usually not appearing between the main protagonists of big gymnastics competitions.
I take this opportunity to congratulate the Organizing Committee for the excellent job done with the
organization of the Games.
I would like at the same time to congratulate, and to thank the Chinese Gymnastics Association for
the direct implication in the organization of the competition, as always with excellent knowledge
skills, friendship and enthusiasm.
PAN AMERICAN GAMES, Guadalajara, MEX
October 24 ­ 28, 2011
During October 24 -28, 2011 in Guadalajara, MEX took place the Pan American Games, an
outstanding multisport competition which included also Artistic Gymnastics for men and women.
Artistic Gymnastics competition, held in Nissan Gymnastics Complex, included CI & Team Final,
CII, and CIII.
Competition I ­ Qualifications & Team Final included the participation of 56 gymnasts from 17
nations, as follows:
o 7 teams ­ ARG, BRA, CAN, COL, MEX, PUR, USA
o Individual gymnasts from ­ CHI, CRC, CUB, DOM, ECU, ESA, GUA, PER, TRT, VEN
Per apparatus the following number of gymnasts competed:
FX- 47 gymnasts
PH- 46 gymnasts
RI- 47 gymnasts
VT- 47 gymnasts (26 for CIII)
PB- 46 gymnasts
HB- 46gymnasts
From the competition resulted also the Team Final ranking, with BRA for Gold, PUR - Silver, and
USA - Bronze.
Competition II ­ All-around Final
We saw a high level exciting competition by all participating gymnasts.
Medal standing ­ Josimar Calvo, COL for Gold, Jorge Hugo Giraldo, COL ­ Silver, and Tomas
González Sepulveda CHI ­ Bronze.
Competition III ­ Apparatus Finals:
FX ­ Diego Hypólito (BRA) gold, Tomás González Sepulveda (CHI) silver, Alexander Rodriguez
(PUR) bronze.
PH ­ Daniel Corral (MEX) gold, Jorge Hugo Giraldo (COL) silver, Jorge Pena (COL) bronze.
RI ­ Brandon Wynn (USA) gold, Arthur Zanetti (BRA) silver, Christopher Maestas (USA) bronze.
VT ­ Diego Hypólito (BRA) gold, Tomás González (CHI) silver, Hugh Smith (CAN) bronze
