FÉDÉRATION INTERNATIONALE DE GYMNASTIQUE
On behalf of the WTC, I extend our heartfelt thanks and warm appreciation to Mr. Hidenori
Futagi, President of the Japan Gymnastic Association and its members, for providing first-rate
protocol and hospitality, and for running great competitions.
In spite of the difficulties and problems due to the earthquake, all facilities, accommodation,
and transport were arranged very well. The Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (TMG) was more
than adequate with spacious and well equipped meeting rooms.
All competition phases were carried out very well and according to the Schedules in the Work
Plan.
We would like to extend a warm thanks to the President of the OC of the WC'11, Mr. Morinari
Watanabe, for his excellent leadership and to the entire staff for their contribution to a
successful staging of the WC'11.
The closing reception and banquet hosted by JGA was quite special and enjoyable.
WC'10 AND WC'11 COMPETITION NOTES
The high level of participants' cancellations led to very last minute training schedule's
modifications, which were very stressful.
It became apparent that 3 training halls were hardly sufficient to guarantee the adequate
running of the training sessions, with respect to the requirements of the technical regulations.
It was very difficult to fulfil the present FIG TR requirements regarding the groups' composition.
In the future, it will be necessary to increase the number of training halls, or to modify the FIG
TR in order to allow training and competitions' groups to be composed of team and individual
gymnast(s).
The procedure for the preparation of the training schedule should be clearly defined in the TR:
- The duration of the general warm up before trainings in the Training and Warm up halls
(e.g. approximately 25 - 30 minutes)
- The training time on the apparatus (approximately 20 25 minutes).
- The competition's time and Draw should NOT necessarily be followed in the composition
of the training groups. The OC should try to create the best schedules for trainings.
- The reserve gymnast should be allowed to participate in the Podium Training session.
C-III Format: It would be great to run the MAG and WAG apparatus at the same time (and
alternate the gymnasts while the judges calculate the scores)
The WTC and the federations again would like to request Longines in addition to the execution
deductions to publish the artistry deductions in the results book. Federations need this score
for their analysis and the future preparation of their gymnasts.
The individual judges' E- scores should be eliminated from the result book.
Proposal:
In the WC Draw:
- For Mixed groups: To allocate "subdivisions" at the time of the official Draw.
- To draw individual gymnasts into Mixed groups and "apparatus" at the Orientation meeting
as this will allow movement between subdivisions.
- If a team reduces its numbers to individuals only, the "team" to then move into the mixed
group subdivisions
The presence at the WCs of the President of the Apparatus Commission, Mr.Atila Orsel, Mr. Ivan
Weber and Ludwig Schweizer, was very important and the WTC would like to thank them for their
cooperation and availability to help.
