FIG Congress & General Assembly Cancun (MEX) 2012
AGU Presidential Report
Dear Delegates, Dear Friends of Gymnastics,
It is a great pleasure and an honour for me to welcome you at the 2012 FIG Congress in Cancun,
Mexico.
The Congress is an opportunity to share experiences, opinions and to bring together all our
cultures, our expectations. I am convinced that these days will be profitable for the sports, for
Gymnastics and its further development in the AGU and all the world countries. We hope to
achieve the ambitions and to meet our goal which is to promote, develop, spread and support of
Gymnastics on the whole Asian continent.
We are very proud of the results made by our gymnasts, the Asian continent takes always the
leadership of the world gymnastics and he takes also this opportunity to congratulate the Asian
participating countries for the excellent results during the Olympic Games London 2012.
The last period from FIG Congress in Slovakia was very active and it was a great outcome of busy,
rich and successful period which witnessed the 16
th
Asian games, AGU Congress, completion of
AGU Development Project and AGU specific activities. I feel satisfied that we could manage with
the busy schedule and feel happy for the great results came up in each event.
I- AGU Congress Doha 2010
Was held in Doha Qatar on the 20
th
of December 2010 and hosted by Qatar Gymnastics
Federation, I consider Doha Congress the most successful Congress for AGU, it held in intimate
familiar atmosphere and the elections came up with important and decisive results and I feel proud
and honored when Asian Gymnastics Family renewed their confidence of this administration for the
next four years with large majority proved our synergy and impatience to the future with mutual
targets and hopes.
I admire also the choices of AGU General Assembly by voting to youth Officials to take their places
in AGU Executive Committee and leading two of the technical committee along with our experts
making a great balance in AGU authorities.
II- New AGU Secretary General
According to art. 52.1 of AGU statutes and after the resign of Mr. Mohamed Al-Naimi, ex-Secretary
General for his busy schedule in his new work; the EC approved the nomination of Mr. Mohamed
Saeed as new AGU Secretary General.
III- AGU Development Project
AGU tried to develop all the gymnastics disciplines of more or less equal, and we was extremely
happy for the great success achieved during the past year 2011. This comes after the huge efforts
and the accurate plans we have figured at the beginning of our duties. The AGU Development
Project 2011 was brilliant and successful with regard to organisation and the number of
participants was 18 active federations who have benefited from this program. 11 federations only
benefit of development project 2010, the big surprise was the common training camp for Aerobic
coaches held in Korea during 14-19.11.2011, with a participation of 11 federations. This caused an
unexpected extra money in the official budget, but the key to our success is always through our
projects which give confidence and opportunity to federations to enjoy our program.
