FÉDÉRATION INTERNATIONALE DE GYMNASTIQUE
Results were managed by MSL Technology following ORIS requests and rules. Video review was
possible, but in a quite complicated, and unstable system.
Excellent competition hall and very good apparatus supplied from Janssen & Fritsen.
During all this period, the MTC Members, but also several category 1 judges were requested to
lead as Technical Delegates the
World Cup, and Challenger Cup Competitions.
It is a great pleasure for me to mention the professional way all these competitions were organized
by local organizing committees, an excellent way to develop and promote men artistic gymnastics
in an overcrowded market.
From a technical point of view, gymnasts showed a continuous progress by improving not only
exercises' content, but also the presentation mode, fighting permanently to get better and better
results on the execution field.
On the judging side, all these competitions helped judges to increase their judging knowledge, and
abilities, becoming more and more a respected partner on competitions meadow.
The competition facilities, apparatus, specific requirements, were standardized by rules developed
by the FIG Competition Commission, approved by the Executive Committee.
However, I continue to strongly believe that it will be a great help for all organizers around the
World if FIG will start to develop a software for a unitary scoring system with minimal necessary
tools to run, to supervise and control the judges' work, software which should be offered to all
member NFs' at a convenient price.
Code of Points 2013 2016
Beginning 2011, the MTC began to work at the concept, revision, and edition of the 13
th
cycle
Code of points.
The FIG Symposium for the future Code of Points, organized in Zurich, SUI in June 2011was
focused on several key points developed by the MTC:
Analysis of the present Code of Points application with strong and weak points;
Analysis of the judging manner during the big competitions of the Cycle;
What we will need to focus in future, with rationale;
All proposals received from the participating member federations, and athletes around the
World.
We received written proposals from 6 different federations/continental unions JPN, CAN, RUS,
AUS, ITA, and UEG;
In February 2012, the MTC finalized the first draft of the Code of Points 2013-2016 for the World
review, after all suggestions, and proposals received during Symposium were deeply discussed
and analyzed.
At the time of the present report, the revised (after feedbacks received from NF, Continental
Unions, Athletes Commission) Code of Points version 1 was edited for the second review and
approval.
Even if it is not the moment for a detailed presentation, I would like to remark the enormous
quantity of work done by the MTC members, trying to organize all rules with the intention to be as
much as possible unambiguous, to try to create a more understandable Code of Points for the
entire men's gymnastics World community.
To conclude my report, I want to express my appreciation for all MTC Members for the manner
they understood to accomplish their duties, despite plentiful significant tasks they have with their
own work, and responsibilities in their home countries.
Thank you Liping, Kato-san, Steve, Julio, Istvan, Edouard!
I would also like to express my satisfaction for the work and support received from Athletes
representative, and president of the Athletes Commission Jani Tanskanen, deeply involved in all
activities of the Men's Technical Committee.
