Assessment of the Judging
This evaluation led to the following outcome:
- Only a very few judges showed bias for a gymnast from their own country and/or against a
gymnast in contention for a similar placement.
The judges in general are to be commended for an overall good to very good job. Special
recognitions will be announced after the next WTC meeting and then conveyed to the respective
federations
Longines Program
During the competitions, more problems with computers could be noticed than usual. For the first
time, the R judges were included into the E-panels, which led to the reduction of the E judges from
6 to 5 in each E panel. Probably the modification brought into the program was one of the reasons
that the computers did not work properly...
While the computer problems were resolved very quickly, they nevertheless slowed-down the
competitions. Situations that prevent the WTC from running competitions properly due to technical
reasons must be avoided. The WTC appreciates Longines' team efforts to help the TCs run the
competitions the best way possible.
Apparatus: The apparatus supplied by Janssen-Fritsen fully met the specifications and were
safely installed and well maintained throughout the competitions. The new padding on the BB's
"legs" improved the look of the apparatus and provided better protection against injuries.
The WTC would like to express their gratitude to the technical team for their constant availability
and help.
Facilities, Organization, and Competition Management
The Ahoy Rotterdam facilities were more than adequate with ample meeting room space for all the
participating judges and the WTC. The meeting room for the WTC was well equipped. The total
Ahoy Rotterdam competition organization led by the President of the local OC, Geert Jan Sikkens,
was excellent
.
It was a pleasure to work with Mrs. Anneke Hoeijenbos, WAG Competition manager and with Mrs.
Ingrit Spoelman, WTC attachée, who both led the arrangements and transports for the WTC and
the Judge's hospitality very well. They did an amazing and outstanding job. Their conscientious
and meticulous assistance to look after the needs of the WTC and the D- Panels during the days of
the Technical Analysis was most helpful to the project.
