Athletes Commission "Report"

Dear All,
The FIG Athletes Commission consists of six members; one representative for each of our
competitive disciplines (MAG, WAG, RG, TRA, AERO and ACRO). All the representatives have
been working continuously with their respective Technical Committees to give gymnasts insights
for various topics.
As a committee we had our yearly meeting in February in Lausanne. The main topics of discussion
were election procedures for athlete representatives, encouraging gymnasts to give even more
feedback through their representatives and preperation of new Codes of Points in all our
disciplines. Especially in making new Codes of Points the representatives felt that the gymnasts
have been able to give valuable information and contribute towards better rules for next cycle.
Other than bringing valuable first hand information to decicion making Athletes Commission has
also brought more transparency in all levels of FIG. In my opinion this too is vitally important
especially in human judgement sport like ours.
Finally I wish to extend my gratitude to FIG for giving gymnasts this possibility to express
themselves through Athletes Commission and for also listening very carefully their concerns and
opinions when making decicions.
I also urge everybody National Federation to encourage their athletes to get organized and make
gymnasts integral part of Federations decicion making. I guarantee you this is the path our sport
should follow. At the end we need to remember who are the stars of this show and that without
gymnasts we wouldn't need any Federations (National or International) at all.
